South Korea to get Nudist Beach?
Apparently officials Gangwon Province are aiming to set up South Korea's first nude beach in an attempt to boost the country's east coast beaches, which lose out every year to the west coast in luring summer visitors from the capital Seoul.
This is not the first time the subject has been broached by government officials.
Gangwon Province tried to launch a female-only nude beach in 2005, while Gangneung City also deliberated, but ultimately scrapped, a nude beach idea due to public outcry. The same happened to a Jeju Island proposal in 2009.
Cynics see history repeating itself here, but if the country can push this through, (and re-aasure western visitors--especially female visitors--that their safety is a prime concern,) then Korea may be on to a winner.

Holkham Nudist Beach lost to naturism because of doggers.
This is a great blow to the UK nudist movement and yet more proof that the growing usurpation of legitimate naturist resources by doggers and similar filth offers a serious threat to the naturist movement going forward.
I don't know what the answer is. Maybe we should find a way to name and shame them. Your ideas would be appreciated.

Russia Cracks Down on "Unofficial" Nudists
Russia Cracks Down on "Unofficial" Nudists:
The perils of using unofficial beaches! The normally tolerant (at least where naturism is concerned,) Russian authorities seem to be taking a harder line when it comes to stripping off at unregulated venues, as this news report of a police raid on an unofficial beach near Minsk indicates. The moral of the story is stay on the official beaches unless you're SURE of the position and the attitude of the local authorities, and remember that attitiudes can change over time.

22 Best Places to Skinny Dip ( according to CNN)
Be warned! You might not need swimsuits, but you're going to need deep pockets to take advantage of some of the places on offer!
The locations really are worldwide, and include Japan, China, Croatia, the USA, France and loads more. Dear old UK only gets one mention, ( Lady Falls, near Brecon in Wales) but I can vouch for this one as it's not a million miles from my home and I've used it several times. Unlike some of the others it's free to use, but you'll need to prepare yourself for the breathtaking coldness of the water when you take the plunge!
If you've used any of the places mentioned, why not comment on your impressions?

Where To Get ( Legally) Naked In Canada

The law regarding public nudity in Canada is not straightforward. There are dozens of nude beaches across the country, though only a handful of them are legally recognized as clothing-optional beaches. Many others are unofficially recognized as clothing-optional beaches where authorities do not arrest nude sunbathers.
This article from The Huffington Post shows you where to go. . .

And now some good news!
The UK organisation The National Trust, owners of Studland Beach near Bournmouth, Hampshire, have agreed to the extension of the nudist section of the beach. This follows a comprehensive clampdown on the "unsuitable" behaviour which had previously threatened the beach's future.
Congratulations to the teams of genuine nudist volunteer wardens who patrol the nudist area to keep it clear of the filth which contaminates so many of our nudist areas, threatening their existence and turning public opinion against real nudism.
Now, just another 1000 beaches to clean up . . .!

Beaches at Fire Island New York no longer nude thanks to bad behaviour (and hurricanes.)
Prostitution, voyeurism, exhibitionism, public sex and masturbation have all become problems at the beach surrounding the Fire Island Lighthouse.
Yet another nudist resource lost, and another stain on the character of the nudist movement, because of the actions of these perverts masquerading as naturists.
Sometimes, increasingly these days,I despair, I really do. . .

Sunglasses Can Damage your Health!
Almost. But not quite. Because according to Dr. Sharon Moalem and Jonathan Prince in their book Survival of the Sickest (ISBN:978-0060889661), shading your eyes from the sun for a long period of time can actually increase your chance of burning!
Bizarre I know, but their reasoning goes like this.
The process of tanning is controlled by the pituitary gland, which is responsible for the production of a substance called melanin. When the sun shines the pituitary gland kicks into action and orders up more supplies of melanin. Melanin, which is the body's natural tanning agent, then pigments the skin to protect it against the harmful UV rays which cause sun damage.
The trouble is that the pituitary gland takes it's information regarding sunlight from the eyes. Moalem and Prince contend that by artificially shading the eyes with sunglasses for lengthy periods you fool it into thinking that the sun is less strong than it actually is. This in turn inhibits the production of melanin, making sun damage much more likely.
So by trying to prevent sun damage by wearing sunglasses, we could actually be promoting it!
How strange is that?
I should point out that Moalem and Princes' theory is not universally accepted and there are many in the medical professional who dispute the findings. Which, of course, only adds to the confusion.
So,what should the sensible nudist do? Ignore the advice. Or take it to heart and avoid the sun altogether? Or, even worse, stay in the sun but discard the sunglasses?
Thankfully there is a much more simple, common sense solution. If you're going to be wearing sunglasses for any length of time, just remove them for two or three minutes every fifteen or twenty minutes or so. This will keep your pituitary gland on its toes and ensure a free flow of melanin to where it's most needed.
It's better to be safe than sorry, and we nudists should act responsibly in the sun. Although the risk in this case is as yet unproven, avoiding it is easy, so why take the chance? It can't be worth hazarding your health just for the sake of looking like a rock star for an extra two or three minutes every quarter of an hour.

Go Nudist’s Guide To Free Nudist Beaches - Morfa Dyffryn, UK
Another of the world's notable nudist beaches...
Morfa Dyffryn Nudist Beach, Gywnedd, N Wales UK
Description:
Morfa Dyffryn nudist (naturist) beach forms part of the northern end of the majestic Barmouth Bay beach. It is a beautiful spot, consisting of 1 km of fine golden sand gently sloping to the clean, clear ( if sometimes chilly ) waters of the Welsh coastline. The beach is backed by acres of sand dunes, Morfa Dyffryn is considered by many to be Britain's best nudist beach.
Directions:
- Drive north out of Barmouth on the A496
- After 4 miles you'll come to Talybont. Proceed through the village and over a narrow bridge.
- Just after this bridge you'll come across a road on the seaward side next to a small chapel, signposted ‘Treath Beach'
- Turn down this road ( actually a lane - very narrow in parts)
- One mile down you'll come to toilets, beyond which is a free car park. This has height barriers which makes it unsuitable for van/campers etc
- From the car park follow the marked path through the dunes for about 1 mile to the nudist beach.
- ALTERNATIVELY, nudists may want to turn right at the toilets and drive into the Dyffryn Seaside Estate and park there. It is a shorter walk to the nudist beach, but the Estate may make a nominal charge in high season.
Nearest air / rail links.:
The Welsh Coast railway line from Barmouth to Porthmadog runs just inland from the beach, with stops at Dyffryn Ardudwy and Llanbedr.
Also the Shrewsbury-Machynlleth-Pwllhei railway stops close to the beach.
Facilities:
None on the beach itself, but there are shops and a pub at the nearby Dyffryn Seaside Estate. There are public toilets at the car park.
Camping and caravanning is available nearby at Benar Beach Caravan Park.(mostly textile, but with a small nudist area), and tents and small campers at "Glyn's Field"( on the right of the road to Dyffryn Seaside Estate, off the side road down from the A496 on the edge of Dyffryn Ardudwy.)
Disabled
A boardwalk runs from near the National Park Car Park through the dunes to the beach to allow disabled access, although it is still a long but level trek over hard sand from there to the nudist section. The board walk is also good for cyclists.
Designation:
Official since 2000
Who goes there:
Up to 500 nudists on a sunny Sunday in summer , including a substantial homosexual community who tend to congregate at the northern end. The main nudist beach attracts a good mixture of couples, families and singles.

More information:
The beach can attract several hundred naturists in summer during fine weather , mostly from North Wales and North West England, although visitors from mainland Europe are frequent..
Although the official designation was resisted by some local residents, complaints of indecent exposure and related behaviour have markedly decreased since 2000. The naturist section of the beach is now clearly marked by signs at both ends. Some naturists complain that the official section is too small - the traditional naturist area was 1,6km (1 mile) in length.
GoNudist says...
Although Morfa Dyffryn nudist beach suffers, like most UK beaches, from the attentions of a small number of voyeurs and other undesirables, it is large enough for most genuine nudists to enjoy themselves without problems. Families may want to avoid the northern end of the beach which is gay orientated.
It's certainly a contender for the title of the best nudist beach in Britain, but, be warned - the breeze can be chilly, even in summer.
Do you know this nudist beach? Is it nudist family friendly? Are pets allowed? Is it suitable for the infirm or disabled Please help us help the nudist community and make any helpful additions or corrections or comments.

The Top 5 Nude Beaches In The World

The Top 5 Nude Beaches In The World
By Liz Boudreau

There are a variety of things to consider when choosing a nude beach. Many experts say location is one factor as you probably want some measure of privacy (and most nude beaches offer this). Other factors to consider are the age range of people who visit the beach (you’ll likely want to be with a group
around your own age) and other factors that really have to do more with your own comfort level.
If you are considering heading to a nude beach, why not head for the best? Here’s a list of the top 5 nude beaches, as chosen by the Travel Channel.
1.Montalivet, France.
This area is called the international birthplace of the naturalist movement. At this beach resort,
you can camp (most popular) or stay in one of the 172 bungalows. This is a family resort, so if it’s in your comfort level to include the kids, you won’t be the only ones. This resort features a wide variety of classes that range from soccer to yoga and everything includes the whole family. This gives new meaning to the term au natural!
2.Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
Famous for its many beach resorts, this area of Jamaica also includes the Couples Resort, which is an excellent start for the new nudists. The resort itself it not a nudist resort, but there’s a beach just offshore that’s for nudists. Featuring a pristine beach, private cozy nooks all around and a cabana bar, this island is private and safe, making newbies feel comfortable in their newly exposed skin.
3.Wreck Island, British Columbia.
This four-mile stretch of beach is so named because a huge wrecked sea vessel once inhabited the sand. At this friendly beach, you can enjoy the nesting area of the bald eagles, and know civilization is just a few steps away (the University of British Columbia is just a few hundred steps above the beach). One of the most lively parts of this beach is Vendor’s Row, where you can shop (in the nude) for souvenirs, handmade items and other goodies (including sunscreen, which you’ll need in abundance).
4.Samurai Beach, Australia.
Located in Port Stephens, this beach backs up to the clothing-optional Bardot’s resort. At the beach, you can enjoy nude volleyball, Frisbee, and tug of war. This is the spot of the famous Nude Olympics, which are held each year. Events include Nude Surfing, Nude Beach Girl and Guy Competition and Nude Torch Relay.
5.Hedonism II, Jamaica.
Yes, laid-back Jamaica can claim two of the top five nude beaches. At this clothing optional resort, expect a good party. There’s nude swimming, sunbathing and volleyball, as well as what the resort calls a “lush garden of playful passion”. Designed for playful couples and singles, the resort features a big party scene, lots of lush and delicious food and a nude good time all around.

The World's Best Nude Beaches and Resorts
The Naturist Society's long-awaited sequel to the New York Times bestseller 'The World Guide to Nude Beaches and Resorts' is a satisfyingly substantial book which takes you on a whirlwind tour of the world's best nudist spots.
Reviewing 1000 "beautiful places to get naked" in more than 50 countries ( I'll take their word for it. I didn't count), it feels more like a TV documentary than a book and certainly covers an immense amount of ground. Such an ambitious project could easily have been a disaster, but it has to be said that on the whole the production team have pulled it off pretty well.
Given the scope of the book and the limitations of the medium it is inevitable that some of the entries are almost brutally concise, but even so all the salient points are clearly set out, including a brief description and "Practical info", which gives directions, additional information and contact details where appropriate. The authors have even allowed for the probability that some of the information will become out of date over time, promising to publish updates on their website as and when they become necessary.
This is a very handsome book, beautifully designed and with nearly every one of over 300 glossy pages enlivened by superb photos from the likes of Charlie Simonds and others. Ironically, it's these very photos that provoke my only criticism of this otherwise splendid book.
We in the naturist movement are constantly banging on to anyone who is listening that you don't need a flawless body to become a nudist, and that naturism can be enjoyed by everyone, whatever shape or size. And yet nearly all the photos in this book feature beautiful young people who look like they've just walked off a Playboy photo-shoot. Aren't we in danger of, at best being hypocritical, and at worst, alienating potential newcomers who may have body-image doubts? Surely a liberal sprinkling of wrinklies and wobblies amongst the firm young bodies would be more truthful and accurate, and might encourage more first-timers? But then I suppose beautiful people sell more books.
Ah well. Perhaps I'm being a little curmudgeonly. It must be my age. Because that one caveat aside, this really is a very fine book indeed, and should be on every nudist's bookshelf. The authors and production team deserve our thanks.
